Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati debut in India. The Fiat owned manufacturer has appointed the Shreyans Group as its official importer, offering its entire range of models in the country with prices ranging from Rs. 1.2 – 1.5 crore.
The Shreyans Group is already the official importer of Ferrari, Ducati and Porsche in India. India is the 63rd market for Maserati, which is in the league of top sports car manufacturer’s in the world.
Maserati’s product comprises three different of models: the Quattroporte, Gran Cabrio and the Gran Turismo. The price of Maserati Gran Turismo 4.2 is Rs. 1.2crore, the Gran Turismo 4.7 is Rs. 1.29crore and the Gran Turismo S 4.7 is 1.37crore. Aspirants who are willing to shell out Rs. 1.23 crore can have the Maserati Quattroporte 4.2 in their driveway, while the Quattroporte 4.7 and Quattroporte GTS will find their way into your garage for Rs. 1.32 crore and Rs. 1.43 crore respectively. While the Maserati Gran Cabrio is Rs. 1.43 crore.The delivery of these models will be commence from August 2011. The dealership will first commence in Mumbai later a dealership in Delhi in the year after (2012.

Maserati Quattroporte.
The Maserati Quattroporte 4.2 as the name suggests is powered by a hefty 4.2-litre V8 engine that belts out 400 PS and switches gears using a Duo Select transmission. The luxury 4-door, Pininfarina designed sports car accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in 5.6 seconds and the top speed is rated at 269 km/hr. The other Quattroporte variants are the 4.7, GTS and the GTS Award Edition.
Maserati Gran Tourismo.
The Gran Turismo 4.2 is a 2-door; 4-seater coupe is also powered by a 4.2-litre engine but here the 4.2 produces 405 bhp of maximum power at 7,100 rpm and 460 Nm of maximum torque at 4,750 rpm. It is also a tad swifter than the Quattroporte and can hit 100 km/hr in 5.2 seconds to reach a top speed of 286 km/hr. Other variants include the Gran Turismo 4.7 and Gran Turismo S.
Maserati Gran Cabrio.
The third car from Maserati’s stable is the Gran Cabrio; a 2-door 4-seater coupe with a soft top, that roars with a 4.7-litre, V8 engine churning out 434 horses. The Gran Cabrio can accelerate from 0 – 100 km/hr in 5.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 283 km/hr. The engine is mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission.
Maserati, established itself on December 1st, 1914, in Bologna and now has its headquarters in Modena, Italy. Initially, Maserati was associated with Ferrari S.P.A, but of late, it has become part of a sports car group including Alfa Romeo. In 2010, Maserati delivered 5,776 cars to its customers, registering an 18% sales hike when compared to 2009. USA is the biggest market for Maserati where it sold 2000 units in 2010 followed by Italy & UK. In China, Maserati sold 400 units of its luxury cars last year.
Several coveted luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi etc, have taken to Indian shores. Even Ferrari has recently appointed the Shreyans Group as its official importer, revealing plans of setting up showrooms in India soon taking cue from Aston Martin which will set up shop in India this April.
